๐ŸŽฅ Trump - Macron joint press conference across the board: tensions in the oval office

First the sparks in the Oval Office, then at the press conference came the opening of Macron while Trump threatened Tehran. The differences remain, "it is not a mystery", confirmed Macron, but we want to work on a new agreement in the long term. Trump reiterated what he has been saying for months, the agreement with Iran is "a disaster", it has "rotten foundations", "it is a bad agreement with a bad structure and it is falling". A clear stance which was followed by harsh warnings: "If Tehran reactivates its nuclear program it will have big problems", "if it threatens us in any way, it will pay a price that few countries have ever paid". Macron tried to stem it, pointing out that the agreement is "important and part of a broader security issue in the region". A position to which he returned later, when he opened to a "new agreement", however setting a series of stakes. The tenant of the Elysรฉe acknowledged that the current one is "insufficient, but - he added - it has allowed us to have at least some control over Iran's nuclear activities" until 2025. "So we want to work on a new agreement with Iran from now on." "We should not break the agreement and run out of nothing but we must build a new one, wider and one that responds to common concerns", said Macron. President Hassan Rohani warned the United States in the morning that "if they do not respect their commitments, the Iranian government will react firmly", threatening "serious consequences". And after Trump's words, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed that Tehran "most likely" will withdraw from the nuclear deal should Washington cancel it, while the Iranian ambassador in Geneva reiterated that "the agreement do not touch". Trump welcomed the French president with great fanfare, reserving him the first state visit after 14 months of presidency. And the confidential atmosphere between the two leaders was also seen in front of the cameras: Trump, underlining the "very special relationship", joked simulating the gesture of removing dandruff from Macron's jacket. Trump has again pointed the finger at the Iranians also speaking of Syria: the American president has reiterated his intention to withdraw, and even soon, but this clashes with Tehran's expansionism. "I would love to get out and bring our incredible soldiers home," but with Macron "we have discussed and we don't want to give Iran an outlet on the Mediterranean," he said. As for North Korea, the White House tenant appeared firm: no concessions to Pyongyang, he said assuring that he will not make the mistakes of past administrations. "I want North Korea to get rid of nuclear weapons", he warned, confirming that the meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un "will take place very soon".
