The EU and Japan are already thinking beyond the 5G network, a thousand times faster than the 4G

Researchers from Japan and Europe are trying to develop a new-generation mobile network technology, ahead of 5G technology, the Italian news agency Nova reports.

The post-5G era, which to date is still limited to the conceptual sphere, should entail data transmission rates over the air at speeds at least 1000 times higher than 4G networks: such technologies would allow to transfer a quantity of data in less than two seconds equivalent to a high definition movie on Blu-ray disc.

The project, led by Professor Tetsuya Kawanishi, Tokyo Waseda University, involved the German University of Stuttgart, the Japanese electronics company Nec, Deutsche Telekom and other academic, business and government institutions.

The new technology will use a frequency band of 300 Ghz, which should allow 10 data transfer rates times higher than the 28 Ghz band of 5G. The project is funded by Horizon 2020, the European Union's leading innovation and research program, and by the Japanese National Information and Communications Technology Institute. The adoption of 5G technology on a global scale only began last year. Researchers participating in the Euro-Japanese project estimate that the commercial adoption of the new technology they are working on will take place after the 2030.

6G network

Although it is still not possible to find phones on the market 5G, even in China we start talking about 6G.

The research on the 6G in China they started already from the 2018. The actual development of the 6G network will take place in the 2020, with application in the 2030, but in the meantime we begin to do the first research just as it is happening in Finland with the program 6genesis.

As mentioned the main feature of this new technology is speed, 1TB per second to download data.

The 6G network will then be able to have full coverage in the underwater environment.

From the 2015, second Deloitte, China spent more than the United States on wireless communications infrastructure for around 24 billion. Certainly, it will make such key companies increasingly strong and competitive ZTE, Huawei e Tencent, very active in research and development.

These modern technologies will give the state a more powerful and detailed control over citizens with the use of surveillance cameras with facial recognition.

7G network

In the middle of November this year the Chief Architect of the network Neil McRae of British Telecom (BT), in a sector forum arguing on the perspective of the 6G network also of the seventh generation, the 7G.

For McRae, if the 6G will be an enhancement of the 5G with the satellite network, the 7G network will be divided into "7G base" and 7.5G, where the basic version will basically be 6G + roaming space on the satellite network.

According to the analysis of Neil McRae, the 5G network, and even more the 6G, will be integrated with the satellite network, for example the satellite navigation network, which today has three different global navigation network systems, GPS of the United States, Beidou (Compass) of China, GLONASS Russian, will bring to 6G this great challenge of how to interact and how to move between different satellite systems, which will be a challenge to solve precisely in the era of 7G.
