Turkey today opened its largest overseas military training center in Somalia's capital Mogadishu. The military facility was inaugurated by Ankara's Chief of Staff, Hulusi Akar, and Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire, in a ceremony in the new center built by Turkey in Africa. According to reports from the Turkish press, the ceremony took place amidst stringent security measures.

“My government and our people of Somalia will never forget the enormous help of our Turkish brothers. This center will help us train more soldiers, ”Somali Prime Minister Khaire said. For his part, the Turkish chief of staff said that the Ankara government intends to continue supporting "the Somali brothers until their country becomes stronger from a military point of view". The new training center in Somalia is located south of Mogadishu and was completed after two years of construction.
