Bellanova: "Huge resources for the cultural, economic and landscape regeneration of a territory devastated by phytopathy"

Regenerating agriculture in the areas affected by the Xylella fastidiosa bacterium: this is the goal of the "Sustainable Regeneration" program of the Jonico Salentino Quality Agri-food District (DJAS) approved by Mipaaf, for a capital contribution of over 31,5 million euros that go to support an overall investment plan of almost 50 million euros aimed at involving the territories of Lecce, Brindisi, Taranto. Two other programs, presented by the same DJAS, were eligible and waiting to be financed thanks to future allocations.

“Excellent news, an important signal of restart for companies and olive growers. A further step on the path undertaken for the restoration of production potential and the regeneration of a territory dramatically affected by the spread of xylella. A fundamental step towards the new agriculture of Salento ”Thus declares Minister Teresa Bellanova.

“With the approval of this program, we are strengthening our interventions in the battle against Xylella even more, with quick application tools and giving concrete answers: we allocate huge resources for the regeneration of the Salento area and create a multiplier effect of private interventions.

These new resources are added to those already committed with the extraordinary plan for a total of 300 million, a plan already active for some time ".
