The State Police has reported a man and a woman of Bangladeshi origin, aged 40 and 37, to freedom for the alleged crime of aiding and abetting the illegal stay of foreign citizens and for failing to declare hospitality.
During a specific service aimed at combating the exploitation of illegal immigration, the investigators of the Widespread and Foreign Crime Section of the Flying Squad carried out investigations on an apartment located in the center of Cagliari, which the two spouses would have intended for rent for numerous their compatriots, not respecting the current legislation on immigration and hospitality.
During the inspection of the property, the Mobile police officers noted the presence of a multitude of bunk beds, for a total of 35 beds, arranged in such a way as to fully exploit the spaces of the rooms, in order to accommodate the greatest number of people. number of people to get the most out of it. Inside the apartment, in addition to the owner couple with their family, 21 other citizens of Bangladeshi origin staying there were identified; some of them had a regular residence permit, others were asylum seekers and four had no qualifications to stay in Italy. The guests of the apartment would have been asked for an amount ranging from 100 to 300 euros per month, depending on the services offered, on some occasions just the bed while on others, room and board.
The search of the property made it possible to find, in the couple's bedroom, a notebook and some papers containing the accounts of the payments made by the guests of the apartment. 3000 euros in cash were also seized, believed to be the proceeds of the crime. The two spouses were reported to the Judicial Authority for the hypothesis of the crime of aiding and abetting the illegal stay of foreign citizens, provided for by the current Consolidated Law on Immigration and for the failure to communicate to the authority the declaration of hospitality, provided for by the Text Sole part of the Public Safety Laws.
