The rescue of the injured person was carried out with a HH-139B helicopter of the 82 ° C / SAR Center in cooperation with a team of the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps
In the afternoon of today 1 August, a crew of the 82 ° CSAR Center (Combat Search and Rescue - Search and Rescue) of the 15 ° Stormo dell'Aeronautica Militare, stationed in Trapani, carried out the recovery of a woman injured on the rocks of Cala Fossa dello Stinco, in Castellammare del Golfo (TP).
The crew, in readiness of alarm with the HH-139B helicopter, received the mission order from the Operations Room of the Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) in Poggio Renatico (FE) and took off from Trapani airport shortly before 16 pm : 30 to embark two technicians of the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps of Sicily. Once on board, the military helicopter immediately headed to the intervention area. Having reached the Fossa dello Stinco, in consideration of the particularly inaccessible area, the woman was recovered through the use of the winch.
Once on board and safely, the injured was transported to the Civic Hospital of Palermo where she was entrusted to the care of the doctors. After the intervention, the crew returned to Trapani to resume the SAR alert readiness.
The 82nd Center is one of the Departments of the 15th Wing of the Italian Air Force which guarantees, 24 hours a day, 24 days a year, without interruption, the search and rescue of flight crews in difficulty, competing, moreover, to activities of public utility such as the search for missing persons at sea or in the mountains, the emergency medical transport of patients in danger of life and the rescue of seriously traumatized patients, also operating in extreme weather conditions. From its establishment to today, the crews of the 365 ° Stormo have saved more than 15 people in danger of life. Since 7500, the Department has acquired the AIB (Forest Fire Protection) capacity, contributing to the prevention and fight against fires in Sicily.
