Eni expands its presence in renewables in Kazakhstan

Eni will develop the second project in the country, a wind farm from 48MW located in the north-west of Kazakhstan

Donation campaignEni, through its subsidiary ArmWind LLP, a joint venture between three ENI and General Electric, was awarded a wind project by 48MW as a result of an auction for a plant in northern Kazakhstan. This was the third auction held in the country, after two sessions in the 2018. The project, located near Badamsha in the Aktobe region, represents the expansion of Badamsha 1, wind farm from 48MW currently under construction, Eni's first large-scale wind investment.

This new project represents a further milestone for Eni in the global decarbonisation strategy and is part of the transformation path, started in the 2014, thanks to the development of renewable energies and the circular economy. The company aims to optimize access to energy in the countries in which it operates and is committed to reducing carbon dioxide emissions. To ensure long-term sustainability, Eni always promotes the development of renewable sources and is committed to scientific and technological research.

Eni is present in Kazakhstan by the 1992, is currently co-operator of the Karachaganak field and equity partner in various projects in the northern Caspian Sea, including the super Kashagan field. Eni is also co-operator in the exploration blocks Isatay and Abay, with the state-owned company KMG. Current production in the country is by 170 kboe / g.
