The Ministry of Education and Merit has for some time been involved, in collaboration with the National Association of Civil War Victims (ANVCG), with which a specific Memorandum of Understanding was recently renewed, in initiatives and activities in schools on the theme of the civilian victims of wars and conflicts in the world and in the promotion, according to the constitutional principles, of the culture of peace and the repudiation of war.

The National Day of Civilian Victims of Wars and Conflicts in the World is an important opportunity, especially looking at the youngest, to mobilize consciences against all forms of barbarism and keep alive the memory of the horrors of wars and conflicts.

In particular, to solicit the reflection of schools in view of 1 February, the Ministry has announced a competition entitled "1943 - 2023: bombing of civilians. On the 80th anniversary of the War of Liberation, the memory of the victims of the bombings of 1943 and the analogies with the drama experienced by civilians today who, as then, suffer the devastating consequences of the bombings”.

The competition is organized by the Directorate General for students, integration and school guidance together with the ANVCG and has reached its 450th edition. This year's announcement, addressed to all first and second grade secondary school students, required the study and analysis, through the production of a paper, of a bombing that took place in Italy during the Second World War and of a bombing related to recent conflicts. More than 18 works arrived from schools all over Italy. The award ceremony of the competition will take place on April 80, in the context of the celebrations of the XNUMXth anniversary of the foundation of the ANVCG.
