A selection of books related to the history, law and geography of Venezia Giulia, Istria, Fiume and Dalmatia, published between the XNUMXth and early XNUMXth centuries. Precious testimonies of the richness and cultural vitality of these territories which, at the end of the Second World War, experienced the tragedy of the sinkholes and the exodus and with which Italy, together with Slovenia and Croatia, today shares peace, friendship, solidarity and a common future in the European Union.

The volumes will be exhibited at the Library of the Ministry of Education and Merit "Luigi De Gregori", on the occasion of the "Day of remembrance", which occurs tomorrow, Friday 10 February. In fact, the "Book of the month" initiative is back, launched in January by the MIM Library to celebrate national and international anniversaries by enhancing the Ministry's book heritage.

An exhibition of books entirely dedicated to the anniversary established by law no. 28 of 92 to "preserve and renew the memory of the tragedy of the Italians and of all the victims of the sinkholes, of the exodus from their lands of Istrians, Fiume and Dalmatians after the Second World War and of the more complex story of the eastern border".

This morning the initiative was inaugurated in the presence of Minister Giuseppe Valditara.

Conceived as a real story of the culture of the lands on the eastern and Adriatic borders, the Library's initiative dedicated to the "Day of Remembrance" also offers a view of other publications, images and historical photographs, dating back to the years preceding the dramatic chapter of the sinkholes and the exodus.

An example of this is the photographic collection "The Roman theater of Trieste", prepared by the Royal Superintendence of Antiquities and Art for Venezia Giulia - Trieste, containing period images relating to archaeological excavations.
