On Thursday 3 November at 10.00, the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, will open the Award Ceremony for the winning works of the IV Biennial National Artistic High Schools Exhibition-Competition, at the “Aldo Moro” Hall of the Ministry. The initiative is funded by the General Directorate for School Regulations, Evaluation and Internationalization of the National Education System of the Ministry of Education and Merit and carried out by the Friends of the Biennale of Art Schools Association (ABiLiArt), with the support of the National Network of Art High Schools (ReNaLiArt). The day will continue with the inauguration of the exhibition at the WeGil space: 186 works created by 139 artistic high schools that compete on the theme “The Future”, with paintings, photographs, computer graphics, sculptures, videos and installations. Twenty-one works created by students of foreign art schools will compete for the "Licei del Mondo" Award. The exhibition will be open, with free admission, until November 18, 2022.

The competition involved 174 Italian artistic high schools, of which 141 selected and 139 participants in the Exhibition-Competition. The works on display will be 207, of which 186 Italian and 21 foreign, the latter coming from European and international art schools.

The works were evaluated by a jury of personalities of high artistic and cultural value, chaired by Professor Giovanni Bianchi, professor of Contemporary Art History at the University of Padua. The works were created in full stylistic and technical freedom, in any material, on any analog or digital support and make use of sounds, lights and mechanical and electrical movements.

Prizes for the “Italian Art High Schools” Section: first place, 1.500 euros; second place, € 1.000; third place, 500 euros. Prize for the “Licei dal Mondo” section: 1.500 euros for the first classified. Other prizes will be awarded by the partners and special mentions.

"This is an important event, after years of pandemic and isolation", explains Mariagrazia Dardanelli, Honorary President of the National Network of Art Schools, President of the ABiLiArt Association and curator of the Biennale, which compares the best production of Italian students , painters, sculptors, graphic designers, designers, fashion stylists, goldsmiths, video-makers, photographers and creatives. "The theme is certainly not accidental: in a troubled era, shaken by the winds of war, collective fears, crisis, it seems more necessary than ever for young people to approach the themes of culture, art, imagination and planning" she continues. “The works are the result of the fundamental student-teacher relationship, made up of proximity and rebellion, of suggestions and autonomy, in the difficult and indispensable search for expression”.

The IV Biennale project includes: the competition; the award ceremony and inauguration of the exhibition; the exhibition of the works selected by the students of the Italian and foreign artistic high schools; publication of the catalog; "ViaggiArte", a selection of works by Italian students traveling to museums and places of culture to encourage encounters and exchanges and enhance talents; the "Licei dal Mondo", a section dedicated to the works of students of European and international schools; Homage to the "Masters", a section dedicated this year to the artist Andrea Pazienza, who was a student of the "Giuseppe Misticoni" Art School in Pescara. There will be concerts, performances and events organized in collaboration with higher education institutes, in the dance field with the DAF Dance Arts Faculty, in the music field with the Saint Louis College of Music.

At the conclusion of the Exhibition-Competition, the ViaggiArte project starts, the aim of which is a concrete and greater "contact and sharing" between the realities of Italian and international art education. The achievement of the objective is achieved in the support and promotion of the so-called cultural exchanges, thanks to which works by the students of the artistic high schools, selected for the Biennale, are hosted in suitable locations in Italy and abroad. To date, the locations identified for the exhibition of the works of the IV Edition are: the Municipal Art Gallery of Comiso (RG) and, in the spring of 2023, "La Casa degli Italiani" in Barcelona, ​​Spain, where they will arrive with " La Nave della Biennale ”.
