The State Police and the Financial Police seize over a ton of rockets, firecrackers, batteries and explosive combinations from a Messina trader

The State Police and the financiers of the Provincial Command of Messina have reported a trader from Naso (ME) who held an enormous quantity of pyrotechnic articles for marketing, without any authorization for sale.

As the end-of-year holidays approach, control, prevention and repression activities relating to the illegal marketing of fires and pyrotechnics have been strengthened throughout the country.

In particular, the common activity of the financiers of the Capo d'Orlando Tenenza and the policemen of the P.S. Commissariat. of Capo d'Orlando made it possible to identify a deposit in which over 2.660 pyrotechnic articles were found, such as rockets, firecrackers, batteries and explosive combinations, belonging to categories for which sale without a Public Security license is prohibited.

The activity, without prejudice to the presumption of innocence until the responsibilities have been ascertained, ended with the free referral of the owner of the sole proprietorship to the Pattese Judicial Authority, for the hypothesis of the crime of illegal manufacturing or trading of materials explosives, as well as with the seizure of over a ton of various pyrotechnic articles, containing an active mass of gunpowder equal to approximately 145 kilograms, the marketing of which would have resulted in an estimated illicit gain of over €24.000,00.

The explosive material was transported and concentrated in a specialized warehouse and made available to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Patti.

During the Christmas holidays, as is known, the greatest number of sometimes fatal accidents occur caused by the habit of lighting firecrackers and irregular fireworks. It must be remembered that the use of such fires can cause serious injuries given their high power.

  • Use only regularly built fires marked with the CE mark
  • Do not light fires in closed places but always outdoors, away from children, strangers, buildings, animals and trees;
  • Do not wear easily flammable clothes or accessories;
  • Always keep your face and eyes away from the pyrotechnics;
  • In the presence of wind, avoid switching on or in any case pay maximum attention;
  • Never approach unexploded fires, even after hours, but report their presence to the emergency number 112;
  • Never purchase and use artisanal products that constitute an enormous danger to your own safety and that of others.
  • If you have pets, it is best to avoid scaring them by setting off fires. If exposure of animals cannot be avoided, keep them inside the house with doors and windows closed in their favorite corner and reassuring them with our presence.
