State Police: Vincenzo Vecchi fugitive from the 2012 tracked down

The State Police of Milan conducted a detailed investigation aimed at tracing the forty-six year old VECCHI Vincenzo, a well-known exponent of the Milanese anarcho-autonomous area, a fugitive from 2012 since July because he was struck by the order of execution of competing penalties nr. SIEP 348 / 201 issued the 26 July 2012 by the Attorney General of the Republic at the Court of Appeal of Genoa - Office of Criminal Executions and of its European Arrest Mandate.

In fact, VECCHI was convicted by the final judgment of the 13 July 2012 Court of Cassation, with 11 years and months 6 imprisonment for the violence occurred during the 20 July 2001 street demonstrations in Genoa, in conjunction with the conduct of the Summit of the G8. In particular VECCHI, in the days of 20 and 21 July 2001, misrepresented and in competition with other demonstrators, damaged, destroyed and set fire to various movable and immovable assets including some credit institutions, cars and a supermarket, removing the goods displayed inside . He opposed himself with violence to the police, praising the other protesters in the attack and throwing bottles, stones and making some Molotov cocktails explode. It also moved garbage bins out of their seats, spilling them into the middle of the road.

In the last two months the investigative action of the State Police has intensified also with the start of interceptions of various kinds granted by the General Prosecutor of Genoa; the analysis of the information concerning the fugitive, his old comrades in political struggle and the family, have therefore allowed to acquire numerous elements that led back to the presence of the fugitive in France. The French police were therefore interested - through the liaison officer in service at the DCPP / UCIGOS of the State Police who ensured a close investigative connection - that continued the investigation providing a decisive contribution to the exact identification of the fugitive. It was thus possible to learn that in recent weeks VECCHI met the former cohabitant and her youngest daughter in France, in a town of Savoy, spending a week's holiday like a normal family of vacationers.

At the end of her stay in Savoy, the woman with her daughter returned to Milan, while VECCHI returned to Brittany, resuming her normal life with a false identity. By monitoring the woman and following every possible clue as well as the traces of the telephone sets used by the couple, the investigators of the Service for the Contrast of Extremism and Internal Terrorism and of the DIGOS of Milan have acquired further useful clues aimed at locating the fugitive and the how he used to hear the ex-partner and his daughter. These important elements were promptly communicated to the French Police who, lastly, on the morning of 8 last August, following the indications of the Antiterrorism of the Milan Digos and of the Central Directorate of Prevention Police, arrested VECCHI Vincenzo in Saint Gravé dans le Morbhian, a small village in the Brittany region.

It is in fact in Brittany that the VECCHI had found refuge; and it is in the same region that he worked as a painter for his livelihood. VECCHI, who called himself Vincent in France, was stopped in the street while he was going to work. He had no identification documents, but only a card bearing the name of Vincent Papale. On August 9, the French authorities have validated the arrest of the fugitive, who is now detained in the prison of Rennes.

VECCHI was the last condemned for the facts of the G8 of Genoa still untraceable. In October of the 2017 he was arrested in Switzerland, following specific investigations carried out by the Service for the Contrast of Extremism and Internal Terrorism / DCPP-UCIGOS and by the DIGOS of Pavia, the fugitive FINOTTI Luca, of '79, found guilty of similar crimes in the same process. IL VECCHI, in addition to the conviction for the crimes devastation and looting, robbery and abusive port of arms, resistance and violence against the contingents of the Police Forces in Genoa of the 2001, has been condemned for having participated in the violence set in to be in Milan in Corso Buenos Aires in March of the 2006.
