PUER is, to give a smile, to give hope, to give love to the children of the world

There are many non-profit associations in the world that run to the aid of children, weak subjects who, in countries affected by natural and social disasters, pay the highest price. Among many, the activity carried out by the PUER Onlus is particularly relevant.

THEVolunteer Association PUER Onlus Moral Body the tragic event of April 26, 1986 was born after a few years when the explosion of the reactor number four of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant struck hundreds of thousands of people in Eastern Europe, which unfortunately continues to produce its nefarious effects even today.

The most affected nation was Belarus, because the wind, which blew north that day, moved the cloud from Chernobyl, Ukraine, to the Belarusian regions, especially Gomel, Mogilev and Brest. In 1992, by chance, the idea that led to the birth of the PUER was born. For different reasons, two people met a group of Belarusian children who were guests of the SOS village in Rome, to whom they took care of providing equipment and animation, through the local club of the Rotary Club and the young people of a Roman parish. Then the desire to see those children was born, a small summer trip was organized that questioned the conscience of the founding members.

The reception in uncontaminated areas, together with healthy nutrition and a diagnosis of any pathologies, was placed at the basis of the aid.

A strong emotional thrust was created that led many families to help especially the weakest, who were paying the highest price, the children as usual, and to create the conditions in which they could grow up healthy and with equal opportunities for physical and intellectual development .

From the 118 children welcomed in Rome at the beginning of the 90s, there was a peak of 7000 reception services operated in the year 2000 and then returned to the current 2500 throughout Italy through the contribution of the families who provide their work in the Association of Volunteer Puer Onlus.

The experience of the Puer on the Belarusian territory is absolute and recognized by over 25 years of humanitarian activity. Puer is the most important non-profit organization in Italy that operates in the Belarusian territory and through historical partners, such as the Tree of Life and the Maxina Tank University of Minsk (Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy), the whole socially weak territory is monitored. The structures that collaborate with Puer are widespread and penetrated in a capillary way on many villages that encounter very precise data and problems. The local institutions are constantly updated and informed of the initiatives carried out with reports that meet with approval every year. The Belarusian Department of Humanitarian Aid, in the person of Dr. VASkakoun, has already defined the operating and management criteria for a small test group dedicated to remote support projects for the three-year period 2014/2015/2017. Now it is possible to take advantage of this experience to modulate a more penetrating and widespread initiative for families, generally present in the periphery of the territory, who live in conditions of extreme poverty and social, cultural and health problems. The project provides targeted support for minors who fall into situations of serious social and health risk.

Objective: support for borderline families - health support for specific cases
