Massimo De Campo's Swan 42 finishes second in the prestigious Rolex Swan Cup and becomes vice-champion in The Nations League circuit
Brilliant conclusion of the season for Selene Alifax of the Udine owner Massimo De Campo, who races for the colors of the Yacht Club Lignano and raced in the prestigious Nautor's Swan 2022 international circuit.
After second place at the Conde de Godò Trophy in Barcelona, the silver medal at the Swan 42 World Championship in Valencia and a fourth place at the Copa del Rey in Palma de Mallorca, from 13 to 18 September Selene Alifax took to the field for the last regatta on the calendar: the XXI edition of the Rolex Swan Cup, a biennial regatta organized by the YCCS in the waters of Porto Cervo.
In the water a fleet of over 90 yachts, divided according to their characteristics into two main divisions: Selene Alifax raced in Division 2, dedicated to the One Design classes and clashed with 9 ClubSwan 42 from 6 nations, high level opponents competitive, already met during the summer in the Spanish regattas of the Swan circuit.
The event, also valid as the final stage of The Nations League circuit, was characterized by intense mistral and sirocco winds, which made their power felt in all 8 races disputed in total over the 6 days of racing.
Division2 took the field on Tuesday 13 September with two stick tests in which Selene Alifax dominated with two absolute firsts. The following days were characterized by fresh winds between 18 and 22 knots which guaranteed hard-fought tests, with some changes at the top.
On Sunday 18 September, the last two tests took place, which determined the final result of the ranking: after a tenacious head-to-head with Nadir's Spaniards, beaten several times in individual tests, Selene Alifax concluded the trip to Sardinian waters with an overall second place in the Swan 42 OD rankings.
For The Nations League classification, which brings together all the international regattas of the Swan circuit, Selene Alifax gets a brilliant second place for Italy, behind Germany and ahead of Monaco.

We return from Sardinia with some regrets and with a great desire to reach the top next season. ".
The team that led Selene Alifax to this brilliant result was made up of the owner-helmsman Massimo De Campo, assisted by the team manager Alberto Leghissa on the mainsail and by the Olympic champion Matteo Ivaldi in the role of tactician. Together with them for this last appointment of the 2022 season Fulvio Manuelli at the bow, Lorenzo Pujatti as bowman assistant, Luca Farosich at the mast, Giovanni Battista Ballico at the halyards, Rocco D'amico as halyard assistant, Andrea Trani and Luca Lorenzoni trimmer, Marta Bonetti jolly and Alessandro Alberti navigator.
