Air Rescue: newborn in danger of life urgently transported from Catania to Rome

The Falcon900 of the Italian Air Force carried out the transport of the child, a parent and the medical team

The emergency medical transport from Catania to Rome of a newborn of just 14.15 months, in imminent danger of life, ended around 5 pm. The mission was carried out with a Falcon900 by a crew of the 31st Wing of the Italian Air Force.

The aircraft, one of the assets of the Armed Force ready 24 hours a day for this kind of need, on the order of the Summit Situation Room of the Air Force Squad Command, took off from the base of the 24st Wing of Ciampino and reached the Catania airport.

After embarking the little patient, his mother and a medical team for medical assistance in flight, he took off again for Rome. The emergency transport was requested by the Prefecture of Messina, activated by the Pediatric Cardiology Center at the San Vincenzo Hospital in Taormina (ME) due to the critical health conditions of the newborn.

After the aircraft landed in Ciampino, the little patient was immediately transferred by ambulance to the “Bambino Gesù” Pediatric Hospital in the capital to receive the urgent necessary care.
