An explosion occurred outside the post office on Rome’s Via Marmorata, where the Aventino and Testaccio districts meet, just before 10.00 on 12 May.
No injuries have been reported after the blast, which police believe may have been caused by two “rudimentary bombs.” Police are suggesting that it may be the work of anarchists although they are investigating all possibilities.
The explosive devices were placed in a plastic box between two cars in the car park beside the post office and did not cause structural damage.
Police investigating a separate bomb alert in the Circo Massimo area have said that it was a false alarm.
